Approved Workshop Scheme
We at The National Caravan Council are founders of the ‘Approved Workshop Scheme’ (AWS) – the UK’s largest group of independently assessed workshops to service touring caravans, motorhomes and light trailers. The scheme is a joint enterprise that first formed in 1978 between the NCC (National Caravan Council), The Caravan and Motorhome Club, and The Camping and Caravanning Club. It is the only scheme to be supported by all of the major UK manufacturers, making it the largest group of independently assessed workshops in the UK! The scheme has become quite renowned for motorhome and touring caravan servicing.
We have currently over 550 fixed and mobile Approved Workshops located across the UK, each of which are run by fully qualified caravan and motorhome servicing professionals who are very experienced and have passed the scheme’s rigorous standards. Using one of our Approved Workshops will give you peace of mind. Mechanics and technicians working under the scheme will normally guarantee all service related repairs for a minimum of six months and take all reasonable steps to protect the validity of any unexpired warranties.
Each of our workshops must meet high standards of competency and comply with an industry Code of Practice which includes:
- Workshops must display a detailed list of prices & labour rates
- They must provide an estimate for any additional servicing or repair work over £150
- They must give a realistic estimated time to complete and collect your vehicle
- Workshops must use only genuine spare parts where available
- They must ensure that all work undertaken is done by using skill, care and professional judgement
- They must always provide you with a check list of work done
- They must not start work without your express permission
- They must ask your permission to continue if additional work is needed
- Workshops must notify you in writing of any faults that are not rectified, with an honest assessment of the urgency of the repairs required

If you are looking to be accepted onto the Scheme, then you must know that all workshops must pass an annual inspection by a team of independent assessors and must comply with the Scheme’s rigorous standards. To be considered you must fill out our online Application Form on our website.
